There are many questions that still need to be answered!
After having the best spring of Brian's career and only giving up only 1 run all spring training which happened to be a home run how do you not end up on the Dodgers opening day roster?
Well you have a staph infection that you have to have surgically removed that sidelines you 8 days before the roster has to be set. I truly thought that this minor setback wouldn't effect the Dodgers decisions but boy am I wrong! The Dodgers set their roster this afternoon with only 11 pitchers and they will carry 12. I think that they will add the LHP they signed last weekend. Lucky devil! They have until tomarrow Monday to add the 12 pitcher. We found out tonight it won't be Brian because the Dodger's trainer in Arizona feels Brian won't be ready for another 14 days. This is where it gets interesting because the trainer is NOT a Dr. and has never seen Brian's wound. This doesn't make sense considering the surgeon who removed the abscess last week said he should be game ready by this weekend (4/11-4/12). Brian will see the original surgeon tomarrow. The day after he had the surgery he felt great and never needed any medication for the pain. This is really unfortunate because the Dodgers are being SUPER conservative and didn't even let him resume throwing until 3 days ago. There plan is to have him rehab in Arizona for another 14 days. We don't know if after this 14 days that the trainer is suggesting that he wil go to AAA or the big leagues.
Like I said there are many questions that need to be answered and cleared up but until then this is where we are. I know that you all have had Brian in your thoughts and prayers so I wanted to let you all know the latest.
Braden's spring break begins Wed afternoon so the boys and I will head to sunny Arizona hopefully by airplane ( I have already driven there 4 times this spring training) and work on our tans for a week. We will get the opportunity to celebrate Easter and Blake's 3rd birthday as a family. We are all excited to see Brian (it has already been 2 weeks) but frustrated once again with what life has handed us.
Thanks for always thinking of us!
Love,
